Tips to live in the now

This is a tricky idea to grapple with as we adjust to social distancing & quarantine with Covid19. But I think it is more important than ever to revisit & refresh as we have more time to stray into the dark places of our minds & what the future holds. What tomorrow holds.

Here are a few ideas to try after you have taken some deep restorative breaths.

πŸ‹ You are not your thoughts. Being mindful & living in the moment is an actual state of active, open & intentional attention on the present. Working towards cultivating nonjudgmental awareness of the present will reduce stress, boost immunity, reduce pain, lower your blood pressure & more.

πŸ‹ Practice unselfconsciousness ~ in other words, stop thinking about it. Practice being present-minded to take away some of the self evaluation & getting lost in your mind.

πŸ‹ Practice savouring to avoid worrying about the future. Relish & luxuriate what ever you are doing in the present moment, negative rumination will slow the F down.

πŸ‹ To make the most of time, let it flow. Flow occurs when you’re so engrossed in a task that you lose track of everything around you.

πŸ‹ Acceptance ~ if something is bothering you, move towards it not away from it. Thoughts are just thoughts. You do not have to believe them or do what they say!

πŸ‹ Living a consistently mindful life in the now takes effort. Practice in small chunks like 10 minutes & build from there.

Nothing happens next.

Next is not a destination.

This is it baby!

You are already in the present!
