5 tips to quiet mind chatter

Mind chatter ~ the bane of our existence.

I stumbled across this fabulous article in Forbes this morn about our ‘mind monkeys’ & wanted to share as my monkeys can get pretty damn noisy ~ not sure about yours?

Buddha believed 2,500 years ago, that the human mind was filled with drunken monkeys – monkeys that would chatter, screech and clamour for attention endlessly.

Most of us play along & allow the endless chatter, sometimes thinking about meditation, other times tuning out on digital. This information overload is causing deep anxiety & anxious & intrusive thoughts.

There are other ways to try and calm the monkeys if meditation isn’t your ‘bag baby’ ~ try some of these on your annoying monkeys & get all bad ass:

🔸Start paying attention to the little buggers in a non judge-mental way. If you consciously bring attention to your thoughts without engaging you naturally calm your mind.

🔸Try counter thoughts to shift your thinking ~ test your reality, find the positive & see if the thoughts serve your goals. if not, zap them to outer space!

🔸 Breath ~ slow, long deep breaths. Wow. Breathing with intention this way brings us back to equilibrium.

🔸 Music ~ tune into the healing & mood elevating effects of music. Ambient, chant, chill, classical, Gregorian chants.

🔸 Finally, vigorous exercise! Jumping around activates all those great mood elevating endorphins & before you know it those monkeys are no where to be seen!

Try any of these techniques to quiet those monkeys 🌿

Happy day all!
