Tips to create a powerful vision board during Covid

All that work. All those visualizations. All that time you spent thinking about the future you want for yourself in 2020 - poof! Covid swept in & put on the brakes...

But not so fast. Now is actually a really great time to sit down and review your vision board - we will all be back out in the wide wonderful world soon enough and the last thing you want to do is loose your momentum.

So pause for a moment, take a deep breath and think about your vision board and your intentions that you set. What would you adjust now that Covid-19 has changed the world and your life in the world? Would your vision stay the same? Do you see gaps now that were not there before? Do you want something different for yourself for the rest of 2020? How do you feel?

Get your pen out and start making notes. Don't censor yourself - just let the feelings and words flow out and onto the paper. Doodle, use images, use Canva, type it up - just go for it and see what comes out. Then sit and reflect. Think about some of these new feelings and emotions that came out - can you see any parallels with your 2020 vision board? Is your vision brand new now?

Whatever came out spend some time and update your board. Do this over time as we are still social isolating and additional thoughts or feelings may come up. Use your board as an outlet for some of your uncertainty and fear, feelings of grief and change, anger, frozen limbs and brain - all of it is normal. All your feelings are perfectly normal.

If you have not created a vision board now may be a wonderful time to start. They are powerful tools to help you think about how you want to live your life. What is possible. What you can create.

Here are a few tips to get your started:

1. Think through your vision - your career, relationships, travel, values - if any ket words pop up note them down - a theme may emerge.

2. As these patterns and themes emerge you will notice goals, values, principals start to form. Group them together.

3. Reflect on your 'feelings' when you review your emerging themes - this is such a key step. Your feelings are your internal barometer and will need constant adjusting. Remember your thoughts create your feelings so if you are feeling negative you will see this reflected. Adjusting your thoughts and balancing the present with hope and positivity will intentionally adjust your barometer.

4. Preparation - start gathering materials for your board. Old school boards on poster board are fabulous because you can put up on your wall and see it all the time - very powerful (I once created a vision board to move myself and family from Calgary back to Vancouver and it worked damn it!). You can use canvas and paint. You can use a wooden art board. You can use a word document and print it out. You can use Pinterest. You can use Canva. Decide your format and gather your materials for the fun us about to begin!

5. Create your board - go for it! Don't censor yourself - this is for you and your intentions for the rest of 2020 - let your soul go wild! You will know when it is done...

6. Put your completed vision board up where you can see it on a regular basis and revisit it. Be intentional - the board you created is there to help remind you of what you want. To help you get out of your monkey brain and negative thought patterns and back on the path you want for yourself. Think on purpose. Live intentionally. The responsibility of making your vision real is for you to bring it to life!

Covid19 will be an intrinsic part of our collective stories so weave it in to yours and move powerfully into your life.
