🤖 AI is everywhere now - you can’t throw a rock in a pond without getting a byte lol
🤖 You may be tempted to toss your resume into the hands of AI and see what masterpiece you will be rewarded with but I would caution you that AI will not be able to tell ‘your story’ the way a recruiter would want to know you
🤖 Sure there are several positives in utilizing AI in your re-craft like job matching and analysis, quickly identifying key skills in a job description, keyword optimization, content generation, saving time and money and more
But the flip side of this may cost you an interview
🤖 AI-generated content can be a time-saver but recruiters and hiring managers are becoming more adept at detecting the use of AI in resumes and cover letters
🤖 Submitting AI-generated materials without differentiation from the original content could lead to rejection - ouch
🤖 Something you may not have thought about is when multiple applicants submit identical or highly similar materials to the same job - this could raise concerns about plagiarism
🤖 Sure AI is slick but AI tools are not flawless
🤖 Bard and ChatGPT acknowledge that they may sometimes provide plausible-sounding but incorrect answers - yikes!
🤖 And, additionally, the model might become excessively verbose or overuse specific phrases which you may not be aware of
🤖 But the biggest glare for me and recruiters these days is the lack of human touch and connecting with a personal story
🤖 AI lacks the nuance and personal touch a human can provide - a great example is with your cover letter - this is an opportunity to infuse personality and warmth, elements that are challenging for AI to replicate accurately
🤖 At the end of the day, a personalised touch can make a significant difference in creating a connection with potential employers!
🤖 If you are going to use AI - use it as a source of inspiration and a starting point, review and edit for spelling, grammar, repetition and inaccuracies, customise your resume and cover letter to reflect your personal experiences and aspirations and finally run AI-generated content through plagiarism checkers to ensure originality!
