Positive Self Talk Prompts:

When it comes to thoughts, you have a lot of control over that glorious mind of yours!

Your body listens and responds to your thoughts in both a positive and negative fashion - pretty tricky hey?

If you keep telling yourself that you suck or are getting old or can’t make a career shift because you are in midlife, then you will create this limiting reality for yourself.

I know I have mentioned this before but it is always a great reminder - you can retrain and change your thinking by tweaking your self-talk.

The following are some examples or prompts you can use to get you started - write them down in your journal or try to memorize the ones that pack a sucker punch to that gorgeous belly of yours:

  • I coped with that

  • I achieved that; I am getting better

  • I handled that; it should be easier next time

  • I can be pleased with the progress I’m making

  • I did that well and if I keep this up, I’m going to get really good at this

  • It’s not going to be as bad as I think

  • It won’t last long and I can cope

  • I am getting better and need to rebuild my confidence

  • It’s better to go than not to go - I might enjoy it if I go

  • Worry doesn’t help

  • Concentrate on what is going on….not how I feel

  • Concentrate on what I have to do

  • I know I am going to be OK

  • Anxious feelings are unpleasant, but not harmful or dangerous
